Function 

The Humboldt County Human Rights Commission (HCHRC) is an advisory  commission appointed by the Board of Supervisors.  The HCHRC aids in eradication of discrimination in housing, employment, education, public accommodation, race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, civic interest or other factors.

Meetings

The HCHRC meets the first Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Humboldt County Courthouse in Conference Room A, located on the first floor at 825 Fifth Street in Eureka. These meetings are "hybrid" style meetings meaning members of the public are welcome to attend in person or on Zoom. These meetings are subject to the Brown Act.

Members

There are 15 members on this commission, 3 from each district. 

Minimum Expectations of All Commissioners

  • Attend monthly meetings
  • Serve on one or more ad hoc or standing committees
  • Answer our message line several times each year
  • Serve as an officer after serving at least six months on the commission
  • Contribute to discussions and decision-making
