Citizens' Advisory Committee on Measure Z Expenditures
About the Committee
Each year the Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Measure Z Expenditures is tasked with receiving public input and recommending projects, programs or activities to be funded by the Board with revenue from Measure Z. Following the committee's recommendations, the Board of Supervisors has approved a multi-year spending plan that allocates ongoing funding to several county departments and partner agencies. In addition, the committee also uses an application process to develop recommendations for one-time awards.
The duties of the Citizens' Advisory Committee on Measure Z Expenditures include:
- Becoming familiar with current and projected county revenues and expenditures.
- Providing a forum for public expression of desires regarding expenditure of funds derived from the countywide local sales tax.
- Working with the County Administrative Office and members of the public to address potential public concerns about expenditure of funds derived from the countywide local sales tax.
- Providing an annual report of recommended expenditures to the County Administrative Office for inclusion in the annual budget.
Meetings
Typically, during the month of March, the committee evaluates the applications and ranks them by their priority, and in April the County Administrative Office provides the finalized list to the Board of Supervisors and recommends funding projects on the committee's list.
