This page provides information about Fair Housing. The County of Humboldt actively promotes non-discriminatory fair housing practices. 

The Housing & Grants Division does not own or manage any properties.

If you are experiencing discrimination based on a protected characteristic, visit the California Civil Rights Department for information on California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (also known as FEHA), available remedies, making a complaint, and dispute resolution.

In California, protected characteristics include:

  • Race
  • Color
  • Ancestry
  • National origin
  • Citizenship
  • Immigration status
  • Primary language
  • Religion
  • Disability (mental or physical)
  • Sex and gender
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender Identity
  • Gender Expression
  • Genetic information
  • Marital status
  • Familial status (families with children under 18 or people who are pregnant)
  • Source of income (including the use of government rental assistance such as a Section 8 Housing Choice voucher)
  • Military or veteran status
  • Age

Mobile Home Owners: The Mobilehome Assistance Center at HCD is the place to lodge a complaint about a park, landlord, or manufacturer.
