Contactless Home Delivery Service 

Up to 5 Miles

Thanks to the Humboldt Library Foundation, the library can now deliver to homes within 5 miles of the Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville and Fortuna branch libraries. If you love to use the library but can't easily get to it, apply to have library materials dropped off on your doorstep! You can ask for books, DVDs, and audiobook CDs from anywhere in the Humboldt County Library system.

Who can use this service?

This service is ideal for library users who can't easily leave home and want deliveries on a regular basis. It's open to Humboldt County Library card holders residing within the delivery area, and can provide a safe, dry place to leave the books. The library account must be without fines.

How does it work?

First, sign up!

To start delivery, you must first fill out an application form. You can sign up through one of the following ways.

  • By filling out the Library at Your Door online application form.
  • By visiting the Eureka, Arcata, McKinleyville or Fortuna branch to pick up and submit a paper form.
  • For those with accessibility limitations, give us a call at 707-269-1954 to receive a mailed printed application form with a prepaid envelope.

Once we receive your completed application form, the program coordinator will be in touch to know what types of books and resources you’re most interested in and to schedule your first delivery.

Ask for delivery!

Library at Your Door (LYD) service is at your request. Any delivery or pick-up must be scheduled by the patron by contacting the LYD Coordinator.

Delivery Days

 
Wednesdays: Arcata and McKinleyville, between noon to 2 p.m.

Thursdays: Fortuna, between noon to 2 p.m.

Fridays: Eureka, between noon to 2 p.m.

If for any reason you believe a pick-up has been missed by the driver, please call 707-269-1954 and schedule a delivery.

Receiving and Returning Your Bag

You are not required to be at home to receive delivery. Drop off is contactless and the driver will leave the delivery in the provided porch or protected area. Your delivery location must be open with no closed gates, safe without any loose animals, and protected from the weather. No exchange will be made if the previous delivery bag has not been left out at your delivery location for the scheduled exchange. 

Once you receive a delivery, the materials are your responsibility. LYD is a service at your request. It is your responsibility to schedule the next exchange by contacting LYD Coordinator by phone 707-269-1954 or email LYD@co.humboldt.ca.us.

Deliveries are subject to change or cancellation based on unforeseen circumstances and patrons will be given as much notice as possible.
