Humboldt County Programs for Recovery
Treatment Program
Our substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program offers outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment. Treatment is conducted in treatment groups or individually. Treatment groups include but are not limited to:
- Co-occurring
- Women’s Recovery
- Men’s Recovery.
Individuals will be assessed to ensure they meet medical criteria for treatment.
Services Available
SUD treatment services are designed to empower participants to develop the self-awareness and personal motivation needed to make positive and permanent changes in their lives. Program services are provided by substance abuse counselors and may include:
- American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Assessment
- Consultation and referrals
- Plan development
- Individual and group counseling
- Treatment and recovery services
- Parenting Skills
- Skill development
- Case management
- Service coordination
- Field services
Eligibility
Humboldt County Programs for Recovery assists individuals who are experiencing substance use problems that are impacting their physical health, interpersonal relationships or causing employment or legal issues. We provide SUD treatment to Medi-Cal beneficiaries who meet medical necessity for outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care.
Call the 24-hour Substance Use Disorder Access Line to complete a brief screening and connect with a SUD treatment provider who offers the level of care that fits your needs. DHHS staff will connect with you during the call to schedule an assessment should you be referred to DHHS’s Humboldt County Programs for Recovery.

It is easy to access services. Come to 231 Second St. in Eureka to pick up an admission packet or call 707-476-4054 to have one mailed or emailed to you. Fill out the packet and return it prior to or during your SUD assessment.
Per California state regulations, admission preference will be given to pregnant women using substances and to intravenous drug users.
Substance Use Disorder Services of the Wellness & Recovery Program
Humboldt County contracts with Partnership HealthPlan of California as part of the Wellness & Recovery Program. The Wellness & Recovery Program offers substance use disorder (SUD) services, as regulated by the California Department of Health Care Services’ Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System (ODS) to eligible individuals.
The Wellness & Recovery Program encompasses seven counties: Humboldt, Lassen, Mendocino, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou and Solano.

Humboldt County Programs for Recovery is licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services Licensing and Certification Division. Our certification number is 120011DN.
The California Department of Health Care Services maintains a list of facilities and programs where their licensure or certification has been placed in probationary status, been subject to a temporary suspension order, been revoked, or the operator has been given a notice of operation in violation of law. Individuals may go to SUS-REV-NOV to confirm the status of a facility’s license or program’s certification.
