Adoption Fees



The Humboldt County Animal Shelter offers the community affordable adoptions. All adoptable animals are neutered or spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots and temperament tested. Prices vary for each animal depending on size, sex, and status of being spayed or neutered prior to arriving at the shelter. See the table below for our normal adoption fees. Periodically the shelter will offer reduced-cost adoptions. These reduced-costs are discounts that are put in place temporarily to help reduce overcrowding in the shelter. If a reduced-rate is not in effect, the following fees apply:

Dog $233-$416*
Dog (if already spayed or neutered upon arrival) $85-$100
Cat (if already spayed or neutered upon arrival) $85
Cat- Female (spayed at shelter) $227
Cat- Male (neutered at shelter) $185
