Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Asking for the Public’s Help in Missing Person Case

Sheriff's Office Posted on February 09, 2026

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public regarding Pamela Kay Masten, who disappeared more than 50 years ago.

In 2023, Masten’s family and friends attended a MMIP (Missing and Murdered, Indigenous Persons) event in Blue Lake and formally reported her as a missing person. She was reportedly last seen in the West Sacramento area in 1972 or 1973. Masten is believed to have been 16 or 17 years old at the time of her disappearance. She was picking tomato’s and may have been planning to travel to Alaska.

Very little information is known about Masten including her height or weight but is described to be Native American (Yurok Tribe) and Black.

Anyone with information is asked to call Missing Person/Cold Homicide Investigator Mike Fridley at (707) 441-3024 and reference case number 202301885.
