Parolee Arrested for Burglary

On May 10, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a residential burglary in the Loleta area. The suspect caused significant property damage and stole items valued at tens of thousands of dollars, including multiple firearms and a vehicle.

Following a thorough investigation, deputies identified and arrested Robert Leroy Ellis, 48, of Fortuna, on May 14. Ellis, recently released from state prison just eight (8) days prior, faces multiple charges related to the burglary. The stolen vehicle was recovered prior to his arrest, and on May 16, HCSO deputies successfully located most of the stolen firearms. Efforts to recover the remaining stolen property are ongoing.

Ellis was subsequently arrested, transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, and booked for the following charges without bail:

  • First-Degree Burglary—PC 459/461(a)
  • Vehicle Theft—VC 10851(a)
  • Felon in Possession of Firearm—PC 29800(a)(1)
  • Post-Release Community Supervision Violation—PC 3455(a)
  • Grand Theft—PC 487(a)
  • Grand Theft of Firearm—PC 487(d)(2)
  • Felony Vandalism—PC 594(b)(1)
  • Providing False Identification to a Peace Officer—PC 148.9(a)
