The County of Humboldt's Economic Development Division is conducting a tourism industry survey in partnership with local tourism organizations and community leaders. 

The county is seeking input from business owners, community leaders, employees, short-term rental hosts and residents who are involved in or affected by tourism. 

The survey is open now through Friday, Oct. 31 and can be filled out online at tinyurl.com/HumCoTourismIndustrySurvey.

Background

In June 2024, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors reallocated tourism funds to support a detailed marketing assessment in partnership with local cities, tourism districts and community partners. Later that year, the Economic Development Division issued a request for proposals for consulting services to evaluate the county’s marketing assets, efforts and tourism trends. In May, tourism and promotion agency JayRay’s proposal was approved to conduct the research and develop a countywide tourism strategy. 

The Humboldt Tourism Industry Survey is one part of this effort. 

Survey results will be shared with county staff, the Board of Supervisors and community partners to inform decision-making and build a collaborative, countywide approach to tourism. Input received will help create a countywide Travel and Tourism Marketing Strategy that will guide future marketing efforts, identify key visitor markets, highlight local attractions and experiences and ensure resources are shared fairly across all parts of the county.
