In honor of the 37th annual World No Tobacco Day, the Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services Public Health’s Nicotine and Tobacco Prevention (NTP) Program worked closely with Eureka High School’s Tobacco Informed Dynamic Ensemble (TIDE) youth coalition members to create a commemorative coffee sleeve.
The World Health Organization’s worldwide World No Tobacco Day celebration takes place on Saturday, May 31, and is dedicated to raising awareness about the harmful effects of commercial tobacco use and advocating for a world that is commercial tobacco free.
Stop by the following local coffee shops, purchase a coffee and leave with a free coffee sleeve created by local youth.
- La Familia, 525 Second St., #101, Eureka
- Old Town Coffee & Chocolate, 211 F St., Eureka
- Signature Organic Coffee, 3455 Redwood Drive, Redway
- Il Forno, 764 Redwood Drive, Garberville
The TIDE youth coalition meets monthly at Eureka High School to learn more about how to be commercial tobacco use prevention champions on their campus and in their communities. TIDE members participate in tabling events, educational presentations, community outreach activities and tobacco product waste cleanups in Eureka and beyond.
