County residents who use electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards will receive newly issued cards with Chip and Tap technology as soon as this summer.
Due to the high rate of benefits theft occurring in California, the California EBT Project, in partnership with the California Department of Social Services and EBT vendor Fidelity Information Services, will be upgrading all cards.
EBT thefts are on the rise. To protect your EBT benefits with real-time tracking, EBT card users can use the free ebtEDGE mobile and web-based application to manage CalFresh and CalWORKs benefits, check balances and review transaction history.
