Welcome to the Humboldt County General Plan Update website. On October 23, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved the General Plan Update as the new General Plan for Humboldt County. The new General Plan is a comprehensive update and revision of the 1984 Framework Plan and is arranged by topical chapters that address the seven mandated elements of a General Plan and several optional elements. The new General Plan applies consistent land use designations throughout the entire inland portion of the County and consolidates the land use maps into a single unified digital land use map with supporting layers maintained as a Geographic Information System (GIS) database mapping program. The new General Plan also consolidates unique Community Plan polices into an appendix to the General Plan for all community planning areas, except the Avenue of the Giants, Eureka, and McKinleyville.
