An inmate takes part in the Literacy Project at the correctional facility

Programs and Services

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office offers an exceptional approach to rehabilitation by providing vocational, educational, and treatment-based programs to people currently incarcerated. The goal of providing programs to this population is to reduce the rate of recidivism and to support the currently incarcerated in their efforts to successfully reintegrate back into the community.

Some of the programs offered include College of the Redwoods courses, substance abuse education, AA/NA groups, motivational enhancement therapy, jail ministry services, Native American talking circles, resume building classes and much more. In addition to these programs, the currently incarcerated are also offered opportunities to develop case plans to assist them in reaching their goals of successful reintegration.
